Getting to Daintree Riverfalls

Daintree Riverfalls is located at 893 Upper Daintree Road, Upper Daintree. It is accessible either by car or chartered helicopter.

Driving

1¾ hour drive from Cairns International Airport or a 1-hour drive from Port Douglas.

When leaving the airport, turn right onto the Captain Cook Highway, and travel north to Daintree Village. This stretch of road is also known as the Great Barrier Reef Drive and is one of the most scenic drives in Australia. At Daintree Village turn into Stewart Creek Road, and after 750 metres, turn right into Upper Daintree Road.

Daintree Riverfalls is located 9 kilometres along Upper Daintree Road which is a gravel road. It is suitable for all vehicle types – a 4WD is not required. The gate is well signposted, and impossible to miss.

Charter helicopters are available from Cairns Airport or Port Douglas to the Daintree Riverfalls helipad, offering a picturesque flight over the World Heritage Listed Great Barrier Reef and Wet Tropics Rainforest – the oldest in the world. Flight is 25mins ex Cairns, 15 mins ex Port Douglas.
